Re-envisioning the Library:  Revealing Connections

The project for the existing Bedford Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library positions the role of human connections as central to knowledge acquisition and community advancement. Places for sharing knowledge and digital capabilities are emphasized in addition to learning from books.

The Revealing Connections concept is centered on a Reception Area where visitors can get help and librarians have an oversight of the library.  The circulation is organized to branch out into four areas where the directional flow is emphasized by a system of curvilinear horizontal elements that incorporate bookshelves, seating, work surfaces, partitions and ceiling lighting.
